Managing Director

The Westerwelle Foundation (WF) empowers entrepreneurs from emerging countries, by helping them go start & grow their own businesses. To do so, the Foundation provides access to infrastructure, resources, networks and know-how. We are looking for an outstanding Managing Director to join the growing team of the Westerwelle Foundation. In this role, you will be responsible for the over-all activities of the Foundation including leading the global team, fundraising for new programmes, ensuring budgets are kept and setting up new Startup Hubs in Africa. Main Responsibilities

  • Team Lead: Leading an international team of 25 people across 4 different locations.
  • Fundraising: Fundraising for new startup support programs to empower young entrepreneurs on their entrepreneurial journey.
  • Expansion: Setting up new Startup Hubs in Africa including identifying new locations, legal setup, real estate development, team hiring and implementation of processes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Being the liaison between the team and stakeholders both in Germany and in an international setting.
  • Reporting :Regular reporting to the board in Germany.

  • Have an understanding of the startup world as well as entrepreneurship support organisations.
  • Thrive on taking full ownership & accountability and work in a fast-paced & detail-oriented manner.
  • Enjoy travelling to Africa (around 2-3 months a year)
  • Speak German & English (French is a big plus)
